New Forest Chapter have been invited to participate in a multi-chapter event.
The purpose of this ride is to ‘reunite’ us all following what has been a challenging 18 months due to the pandemic. The idea is to take a baton that contains a message from the HOG UK & Ireland, Benelux, and Nordic teams to us all around all the Chapters in the UK.
New Forest Chapter is the first mainland UK chapter to ride with the baton. We will receive it from the Jersey Chapter and then our job will be to ride it down, on one of the new Pan American bikes, and deliver it to our sister chapter in Plymouth.
The relay will take in all the 38 UK and Ireland Chapters. We will not only be passing on the baton containing the message, but we will also be passing over one of the new Pan American bikes from Chapter to Chapter.
There will be an opportunity for one of our chapter members to ride the new Pan America bike to Plymouth.
This member will be decided by putting all of the names of those interested in doing this ride, into a hat, and drawing out a name!!
If you are the one to ride the Pan America to Plymouth it would be advisable to have a demo ride beforehand so that you are familiar with it.
The provisional plans are being made to leave our SH-D at about 7.30 /8 am am on Saturday 31st July 2021, with refreshment and comfort breaks on the way. We will then meet the Plymouth Chapter at their dealership for lunch. Option 1 You can then return the ride the same day. Option 2 For those of you who may wish to stay down in Plymouth overnight for an evening out and return ride the following morning. You will need to book your own accommodation accordingly , several are already booked on the Hoe , Via Booking.com
For those who are interested in riding the bike to Plymouth, the Pan America will be supplied full of fuel and will be fully insured. Lloyd has arranged that either a Road King Special or a Street Glide Special will be made available for the rider to be able to ride back to Southampton H-D once they have handed over the bike to the Plymouth Chapter.
Before arriving in the UK, the bike and baton would have completed a journey around the Benelux and Nordic countries. If you would like to know more details of where the bike and baton have been, or are going, info on HOG EMEA Facebook page.
If you google unity/Relay Ride ’21 you will find lots more information if you need it.
If you want your name to go in the Hat please email me fiona@newforesthog.co.uk.
Also a few of us may be staying down there for the night, accommodation and riding back is your own responsibility.
